Tom grew up in on a 10-acre farm in Winters, CA just south of our current home in Esparto. Growing up, he spent a lot of time outdoors, whether working the farm, backpacking the Sierras, or working as a horseback guide in Yosemite and Bend.

Tom was lucky enough to grow up under the influence of his family's passion for fresh, local foods cooked in the provencal fashion and has added his own twist - dutch ovens - to the mix.


Katie grew up in the bay area, east of San Francisco. Most of her time was spent climbing around Mt. Diablo, both on foot and on horseback. Her interests branched out to include evolutionary biology, ecology and anthropology in college.

We met at work after college, and together we bought our property at the end of 2005. We still work together at a large biotech company while we build our farm together.
